Collaboration, opportunity, networking. Open call for artists.
Are you a musician, singer, or producer writing your own material?
Are you based in or do have links to Craven?
Are you in the early stages of your career?
If you answered yes to all three questions then you are eligible to take part in Craven Music Match.
What is it?
Craven Music Match will bring together 6 Craven-based artists to collaborate with each other, as well as offering mentoring from music industry professionals and live opportunities.
We want to support those who are in the beginning stages of their careers and who would benefit from:
professional mentoring and workshops;
opportunities to develop their regional audience;
collaboration with other local artists.
Deadline – 11pm on Friday 11th June 2021
Funded by Craven District Council and Historic England as part of Skipton’ s HAZ cultural programme, Craven Music Match (CMM) will connect musicians from the area to build a supportive, diverse and open network spanning different genres, which can exchange knowledge and skills and be part of the growing live music scene in Skipton and the Craven area.
6 artists will be put into pairs and given a stipend of £300 each to collaborate on at least one piece of music together, and promote each other’s music on social media and other online platforms. Through the project they will gain attention from local and regional press and be put forward for radio play. They will be given access to heritage sites in Skipton to work on their collaborations (which can also be done remotely if necessary), and will be given the opportunity to perform at paid showcases alongside well established artists in the newly renovated Town Hall later in the year.
Other partners supporting the network and giving platforms for the work produced are Great Place: Lakes and Dales, Launchpad, and Hinterlands Festival.
Hinterlands Festival will be launching an exciting new commission, ‘Sounds of Skipton’, which will be open to participants of Craven Music Match.
Launchpad are supporting the programme with mentoring, workshops, and by linking the participants with other regional and national opportunities through their industry contacts and support programmes with partners such as PRS and PPL. Since 2019, 62 artists have been supported by Launchpad, which works to reach, select and support a diverse representation across music genres and communities through advice, live opportunities and funding.
We want to hear what you want to do with this opportunity.
Would you record or film your collaboration?
Would you make a music video?
This project is for you, and will be shaped by you and your imagination.
